Barge boarded offshore Bonny: OOL sources reported that five gunmen boarded the Berge Okoloba Toru, approx. 4 nautical miles from Bonny Island at around 01:30hrs Monday morning.

Amnesty extension ruled out: President Yar’Adua on Monday stated that the government had no intentions of extending the deadline set for the amnesty to end, being the 4th October.

Tompolo lists demands for amnesty: Tompolo took out a full page advert in a newspaper on Wednesday outlining his demands prior to his acceptance of the government amnesty.

Okah to sue Angolan government: Leader of MEND, Henry Okah, is to sue the government of Angola for wrongful arrest and detention, his lawyer, Femi Faland, said. 

Nigerian Taliban ‘trained in Afghanistan: Abdulrasheed Abubakar, member of the Islamist sect Boko Haram confessed to receiving military training in Afghanistan, police say.

Bank boss defends bail out: CBN Governor Lamido Sanusi said he acted within the law when he injected N420 billion into five banks last month and fired their chief executive officers.
