Police raid Islamic sect – arrest thousands: Police raided the Darul Islam compound, Mokwa, Niger State on Saturday, detaining around 600 members.
Boko Haram announce Jihad: Boko Haram issued a statement over the weekend announcing Jihad in the whole of Nigeria.
Darul – Islam: Concerns over rights violation: Religious and human rights groups have said Authorities should be cautious not to trample on the rights of the Darul-Islam since they have not shown any violent tendencies.

Bakassi hostages freed: Three Filipino fishermen and two Ukrainian mechanics have been released off Cameroon’s Bakassi peninula on Friday. The five were kidnapped from a trawler off Cameroon coast July 6th. Reports indicated that no ransom had been paid.

Stocks drop – Naira weakens: Stocks fell sharply on Monday and the Naira weakened as financial markets considered a previously unseen $2.6 billion bailout package for five undercapitalised banks.
Passenger boat attacked: A passenger boat was boarded and cash and property looted on Monday, in the ‘Pipeline’ area close to the Ikpokpo community near the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta.

MEND again say ceasefire in jeopardy: MEND in a statement on Tuesday said that the alleged extrajudicial execution of a civilian by the military was putting an ongoing ceasefire in jeopardy.
